The VW T1 was a legend among the brewers in Dortmund – each brewery had several “Bullis” parked on their yards! And the Hansa Brewery was no exception. Those who speak of Hansa in Dortmund refer to the venerable brewery in the north end of Dortmund. Once operating independently, it was taken over by DAB in 1971. Today, the company is part of Dr. Oetker's corporate empire and the only one of the bygone large breweries that still has headquarters in this Ruhr Valley city. The former Hansa brewery is located in Dortmund's northern part - not far from Borsigplatz square - and now serves as the principal offices of Dortmund Actien-Brauerei, which acquired Dortmunder Hansa in 1971.
