The demand for furniture and large equipment kicked up tremendously right after the 1948 currency reform - and the Tempo Matador was just the right vehicle to help out. Especially the model with the low-side flatbed makes it a cinch for contractors, dealers and forwarding companies to ensure transport from house to house. WIKING unveils the Tempo Matador with a contemporary bicolour design. The Tempo Matador is one of those models that comes with a marvellous history that is typical of WIKING: When the model makers made the advertising model for the Tempo Vidal in 1:50 scale 70 years ago, WIKING met the needs of the manufacturer with a display model for their customers in the transport business. While the prototype of this plain transporter never reached the same level of appreciation as the cult-classic VW T1, WIKING is building this speed van, which earned an entry in the history books long ago, a model maker’s monument: With its basic cab, the Tempo Matador therefore appears as a “silent hero” of the Economic Miracle. The Tempo Matador was highly valued because it was virtually predestined for typical transport tasks - and the version with the low-side bed was no exception. Today, the Matador is considered a legend of a van because - in the post-war years - thousands of companies blazed their way into the Economic Miracle with the Tempo.
