The Technical Relief Agency THW had procured the second, fully redeveloped generation of the T2 from Mercedes-Benz from the onset in a bid to substitute the predecessor series, which was popular with the branches of this aid organisation, between 1986 and 1996. Suitable for everyday use, the Mercedes-Benz transporter was consequently selected for handling a large variety of tasks. In 1991/92, the production of the T2 hailing from Düsseldorf was relocated to the Ludwigsfelde plant. WIKING has miniaturised the model of the 507 D that served the needs of rescue divers.
