The traditional model makers at WIKING started erecting model-making monuments for the Swiss postal service PTT as early as the nineteen sixties. Recently, the postal Alpine theme has been given a fresh and attractive boost by revitalising veteran vehicles of the service. This time, the popular Unimog 406 can score high marks with collectors as it joins the portfolio with a design that is typical of the Swiss postal service. Diagonal stripes stretch around the entire loading platform. They are contrasted by the alerting orange of the snow plough. Marked by these outstanding characteristics, this specialised vehicle further enriches and closes a gap in the PTT theme cycle. The Unimog U 406 – presented by WIKING in 1967 – once again miniaturises a standard vehicle that performed its duties with great reliability well into the 1980s.
