This was familiar to anyone who spotted the tractor on the farmyard - its green paint speckled with traces of its gruelling daily routine. And this is also reflected in WIKING’s design of the legendary Deutz D 40 L. The iridescent design came to be by the addition of two granular colourants, which now turn every tractor into a one-of-a-kind piece. By the end of the fifties, WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer deliberately chose the Deutz D 40 L - and managed convincingly to transfer the majestic size of the original to the miniature on the approximated 1:90 scale. Peltzer had a desire for a “massive tractor”. And, at the time, this model was one of the most powerful Deutz tractors that the tractor manufacturer from Cologne had ever produced. Of course, large tractors were clearly in the minority in the sixties. This is also the reason why the powerful real-life brother is rarely found at today’s events that celebrate historical agricultural machinery.
