The Magirus round hood with its refrigerated semi-trailer is a testament to the economic upswing of the post-war years and the growing desire to indulge in ice cream – whether it came on a stick or in a waffle cone. Moha had been operating from their home in the heart of Hesse, when - in 1951 - the large Moha creamery opened its doors east of the Frankfurt-Sossenheim train station and was able to utilise the multi-track marshalling station. The facility was used to fill tank cars that were sent to Sossenheim from all over the country, as Moha was the only creamery in the Federal Republic of Germany that was licensed to operate nationwide for the US Army. At the time, the “Moha” brand of ice cream produced by the Hessians was competing against the juggernauts of Langnese and Schöller, who had begun to scoop up ever larger portions of the growing ice cream market. 1985 brought the demise of Moha – brand and company disappeared from the realm of consumer goods in the Federal Republic.
