The cubic Mercedes-Benz brings back a piece of construction site history at WIKING: Raab Karcher was among the builder’s merchants in the Federal Republic who were set on a course of expansion in the seventies. The dealerships operated with their own fleet of lorries that guaranteed on-time delivery of the building materials to the construction site. Mounted on a tri-axle chassis, the high-side tipper with cubic driver's cab from Mercedes-Benz allowed for flexible construction site deliveries of sand and crushed rock. One could have wished for the cubic generation back then, but in the sixties, WIKING was committed to bonnet trucks for their construction site vehicles. The original of the Mercedes-Benz high-side tipper is deemed among the first cab-over-engine vehicles, which at that time first had to clear up prejudices on German construction sites. Just like at WIKING, construction companies throughout the Federal Republic of Germany preferred the bonnet truck. This bastion was only gradually broken down, allowing the cubic series, too, to provide helpful persuasion.
