It was the typical design of a beverage truck in the 1950s. The load area for daily delivery was open, even on cold winter days – the advertising panel sported an appealing brand message. This is how many breweries in Germany sent their motorised beer delivery trucks to their customers. With the Büssing 4500, WIKING completes the model-making cycle of the tradition-rich beer brand. The Braunschweig truck original in particular has an evident WIKING history. After its unglazed past, the Büssing Type 4500 is now having a model-making renaissance as a glazed version. In 1955, master model builder Alfred Kedzierski formed the wooden patterns for the lorry débutante before they were used in model making. It was thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the Braunschweig-based lorry manufacturers in the 1950s that the small truck, with the lion in its logo and the unmistakable Büssing spider on its front, was also added to the model range. It is again this unusual WIKING story that makes the Type 4500 what it is today.
