This is how we knew it and how it was adored by Escort fans in the 70s! WIKING has miniaturised the RS2000 design of this Ford model, which embodies the motor sports flair of that era with its signature look of blue stripes on a white body. The prototype was unveiled in 1973 - causing quite a stir as its 100 hp engine quickly earned the vehicle not only many trophies in the racing world but also the reputation of an asphalt maverick. After all, these 100 hp were not for the faint of heart. The sporty image they gave the Ford Escort Mark I made the car a real winner for the Ford works in Britain and a testament to their successful model policy. The design engineers in the British Isles developed their first Escort, which earned the dubious moniker “Dog Bone” early on by virtue of its characteristic radiator grille. Exceeding even the most optimistic expectations of its manufacturer, its sales numbers beat the estimates by 30% after only two months. Better still, the first Escort generation prospered in Germany as well - along with Ford’s first Capri model.
