At the time the Bavarian capital was gripped in the fever of a global sports event when it hosted the 1972 Olympic Games, the Munich branch operated by the heavy-duty transport experts at Toense wanted to join in the excitement. The company spontaneously spruced up a long-in-the-tooth Ford 17M with a yellow coat of paint and finished it off with striking and highly visible “Toense” letters on either side of the body. For weeks the limousine from Cologne dangled from the Toense crane boom close to the Munich-Nuremberg autobahn and was easily visible from afar. The staff at the branch made the spur-off-the-moment decision to convert a section of the lattice mast into a platform and to place the “bathtub” on that platform. Displayed ostentatiously beneath it was the logo of the 1972 Olympics
