This two-axle tipper made by Mercedes-Benz was somewhat of a bread-and-butter lorry of the seventies. Introduced in Wörth in 1973 and revamped visually from the ground up, the “New Generation” model series eventually came to be exclusively referred to as the “NG”. Succeeding the cubic series, these vehicles offered a modular design that made it possible to compose medium and heavy-duty configurations using the same base model. As early as 1969, the production capacity in Wörth was stepped up gradually to up to 100,000 units per year. But, it only took until 1975 for Mercedes-Benz to best this production rate when 105,200 lorries a year rolled off the line - the “NG” had established itself on the market. Initiated in 1973 and strictly based on the principle of modular construction, the highly flexible production system was to make Mercedes-Benz indispensable at the construction site.
