The Swiss retail company Migros has been dominating the grocery store market in the Alps since 1925 thanks to its ability to supply all parts of the country in a dependable manner day in and day out. Ten regional cooperative federations still make up the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund (MGB) today. The fact that the company relied on the spacious Citroën HY vending truck for a long time comes as no surprise. Besides abundant storage space, the French vehicle also offered the ability to sell goods directly from the delivery truck. One stand-out feature has always been the distinctive mint-coloured design of the vehicle including the orange Migros “M” that adorns the front. With this edition, WIKING is completing the line of authentic vehicles utilised by the Swiss retail company. Yet another addition to WIKING’s growing “Migros” theme cycle. French automaker Citroën introduced the HY as a van in 1947 – and, thus, one year ahead of the release of their famous 2CV. Particularly striking: The sides of the body looked as if they had been planked with corrugated sheet metal. The vehicle was manufactured from 1947 until 1981
