Boasting snow white paintwork and subtle motor racing stripes in blue, purple and red on its flanks and spoiler – the BMW 2002 turbo makes quite an entrance at WIKING. And, the letters “2002 turbo” have naturally been integrated into the facing finish as well. The design can be traced back to Jochen Neerpasch, Wolfgang Seehaus, and Manfred Rennen, who were then in charge, respectively, of BMW’s racing department, interior design, and exterior design. These were the colours the company picked for their independent BMW M GmbH business division in 1972 to charge ahead in the world of racing. This colour scheme made the “02” look both sporty and beautiful. The BMW 2002 was the perfect fit for anyone who wished to portray an athletic image at the end of the 1960s. WIKING is releasing this classic, which put a once-mighty 100 hp on the road, in a racing version with updated colour scheme. The two-door 1:87 scale model does, of course, have the round rear lights that were typical at the time. The original BMW 114 range, which came to be known among automotive enthusiasts as the BMW-02 series, had been rolling off the line since 1966.
