The Henschel bonnet truck HS 140 was a workhorse that Kaiser’s Kaffee business did not want to do without in the post-war period. The Ackermann box semi-trailer was something of a space miracle that found the perfect match for its capabilities in the job of supplying the branch network, where the powerful team, draped in the distinctive and brand-typical two-colour coating, was able to fully exploit their transport volume. There was always more than enough to do as the first self-serve shop opened in Duisburg as early as 1952. In 1969, Kaiser’s Kaffee-Geschäft AG operated with 565 branches. In 1971, Kaiser’s Kaffee-Geschäft AG was acquired by the Tengelmann group of companies. Up until the time when Kaiser’s Tengelmann was liquidated in 2016, the branches were held in great esteem.
