The widely known type designation “DS“ stood for “Desireé Speciale“ although many motor enthusiasts elevated the vehicle which is now regarded as a classic to the status of goddess (Déesse) even during its lifetime. And so today, this classic French vehicle is still paid homage to everywhere. For it was pure innovation that Citroën breathed into the design of the ID 19 – the advanced aerodynamics eclipsed everything that had gone before it, achieving a drag coefficient value of 0.38 which was gigantic at that time. Production of this Citroën went on until 1975 with 1.5 million vehicles from the series being put on the road.
